I find it absolutely hilarious while watching the news and listening to what some of these far right wing Republicans have to say.  The level of spin and backstabbing is enough sometimes to make you you watching a bad daytime soap opera, rather than what is actually happening inside our reality.  The more I see the more I look forward to see what happens in the 2014 midterm elections.  This past month the far right, commonly known as the ‘Tea Party’ Republicans, have come to personify the absolute highest levels of paranoia and conspiracy theory.  When faced with truth and hard fact, they will do everything within their power to convince the public at large that the exact opposite is what should be believed.

The month of October 2013 has been a doozy for the history books in American politics.  Common sense seems to have taken an extended vacation from the Washington DC branches of the GOP.  The week before the infamous 16 day government shutdown occurred, I had the honor of watching the greatest entertainment event I have ever seen on TV, the US House of Representatives on C-Span.  I should of made a bowl of popcorn.  It was an event that was full of drama and intrigue.  There were moments of true sincerity.  But most of all, I would have to say it was one of the greatest comedic farces I have ever witnessed on screen.  The stoic heros of the performance were to the left.  Laurel and Hardy, along with the Three Stooges and Marx Brothers were stage right.  I don’t remember if I spent more time laughing or yelling at the idiots I was watching to on the screen.  Then they closed the doors for business, with a big ‘Too Be Continued’.

It is now 10 days since the Gov’t  reopened for operation.  From what I can see, no actual lessons were learned by the Tea Party.  Apparently the President is still and Kenyan Nazi who worships Allah.  Democrats are the ignorant amongst us.  And according to former VP Dick Cheney this week, the President giving the order to take out Bin Laden and succeeding was nothing to be impressed over.  I just don’t get it.

As a Dem, I thought I was relatively intelligent.  I pay attention to what is happening in the the world, read regularly and watch the news often so I can try to stay informed.  I am one who likes to gather all of the facts I can, while trying to avoid personal bias of others, in order to form my own opinions.  But according to the far right I am a liberal radical because I chose to use my brain.  I might as well get out my dad’s old tie dye t-shirts and time warp back to the 60’s. Where is HG Wells when you need him!!!

Common Sense is the key.  The end of the year is quickly approaching.  Then the 2014 mid-term elections are right around the corner.  Will the Tea Party Right succeed in staying in control of the House?  Or will they be sent packing with and huge and loud ”Here’s your hat, what’s your hurry”?  Can they survive the 16 days of disaster they caused for the nation as a whole?  Can the loudest among them learn to see the world outside of their self imposed tunnel vision?  While those weeks were a farce, this next year could turn out to be a calamity of epic proportions.  We shall see.  It should be very interesting to watch, even academy award winning material.
