As I do most Sunday Mornings, I make breakfast (a omlet or oatmeal with some cinnamon and brown sugar) and coffee. Can’t go without coffee. Then I turn to my morning news feeds online to find out what is happening in the world. Most of the time while I am reading, my girl Phoebe has the right idea for herself.
She gets what’s important in her world
But some of the articles I am reading this morning, as I listen to the purring going on next to me, is a bit disturbing, One of the first articles of the day was of how some discipline their children, as young as 3 years old, by beating them with objects, like a switch or belt, until they are bruised or they bleed. Apparently this is the only way they will ever learn to “Obey”, as it was put. Another was how smoking is considered manly and women in ‘pop culture’ should be portrayed as sexual objects. That bit was given to our planet by the crew at Fox News™.
I am seriously beginning to wonder what has happened to simple decency. What is it that we are fighting for? I get the fact that in order for me to stand up for my right to say what I think and feel, as guaranteed by our Constitution, I have to put up with the rantings and lunacy of others as they have the same protections as I do. Last night on Twitter, I had been posting articles as I always do, when I was insulted by a right-wing activist who tried to bait me into a fight telling me that #ClimateChange and #GlobalWarming are both BS. I wasn’t about to give him the satisfaction, so I left it alone and told him he could believe as he chose and I couldn’t stop him. But to be honest, I really wanted to tell him to shove it up his ass and that he was a self absorbed idiot. But I took the higher ground and left it alone.
How is it that so many out there in the social media universe can call themselves the moral authority when they preach hate? When has it become ‘OK’ to use God Law as a reason for Greed and Bigotry? I just don’t get it. Can someone help me understand how they can look at themselves in the mirror in the morning?
I sometimes just don’t get it.

You’ve just explained why I don’t participate in the ego festival that is euphemistically referred to as “social media”. More than half the time, it’s antagonistic and negative – and it’s filled with so-called relationships that aren’t really. Perhaps it should be called “antisocial media”.
The world isn’t like what you read online. There are folks all around you who are doing original things, creative things, and working hard every day to fix problems we suffer from.

Thank you, Invisible Mikey. I do agree with what you are saying. It is all more anti-social than it is social. But I participate to help make sure a certain level of accuracy and civility still exists, at least in the circles I find myself in. The one thing I absolutley refuse to do though is directly attack those who disagree. You can disagree with someone yet still respect a differing point of view. I try to promote those who do the right things to better the world and humanity as a whole.
I look forward to reading what you have to write and thank you again for your honesty.
