Today is Memorial Day. Unfortunately for most, it is just a day off, a reason to have a backyard barbeque, or just be lazy. But for some like me, it is a day to remember those who made my life possible. Those who died to protect my right to live my life the way I choose. It is a day to remember those who lost limbs, memory, and even sanity so I can say what I want, wear what I want and do what I want at any time. Today is a day to stop taking for granted that freedom comes with a price whether we know it or not, see it or not. But I am not paying that price, making that sacrifice.
This nations soldiers, marines, airmen and navy personnel are those who 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 52 weeks a year make and pay the ultimate sacrifices so I can be me. Let us not forget police officers, fire fighters, paramedics. Also, there are the doctors and nurses who are the healers. Too many people to look in the eye and say “Thank You for what you do”.
Then there is my dad. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He is the one I love the most. More than anyone else, I thank him. He more than anyone else made my life possible.
Who made your life possible? Made the sacrifice for you?
Happy Memorial Day to all. Always Remember. Never Forget.

O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave
